Jan Vaughan's Biography

Born and raised in Ashland,WI., on the southern shore of Lake Superior, Vaughan developed her interest in art while taking a summer school art program that took her to the area's state parks and the Apostle Islands for sketching.
While art and design have been a lifetime passion, her professional career has included a variety of fields; Hairstylist, Visual Merchandise Manager and Design/Sales consultant.
Jan has studied with many accomplished artists including, Frank Zeller, Lana Grow, Karlyn Holman, Karen Knutson and Cheng-Khee Chee.
Vaughan is a member of the Minnesota Watercolor society, Artists del Norte, Transparent Watercolor Society of America, Red River Watercolor Society and is on the board of the Northstar Watercolor Society.
"I've enjoyed art since grade school. I love the transparency, glow and movement of watercolor. I love to start a painting with the paint flowing on the paper, then going in at the perfect time to control it."
Jan lives in Shoreview, Mn. with her husband Rick,Morgan their Bernese Mountain dog and two cats, Abbey and Riley. She has two adult sons, Jason and Lindsey(wife) and Chad.
